Dennie, Liberty at Subic Bay!!! How did they ever get all of us back on the ship to finish our little cruces to Vietnam. I think we all arrived with hang overs. But what the heck when you are having fun.

Guys, get your reservations in for the Reunion if you haven't done so yet, especially the Boat People. John Ryan started poking around and has come up with memorabilia from the POPE. Bill Carter, Jerry Nichols and I drove over to John's house a couple months ago to see the items and had a great day visiting with him and his wife. Come on out to the Reunion to see what he picked up and you might just get an opportunity to take your own piece of the POPE home with you. Call someone today to encourage them to go.

I am proud to be a Vietnam Veteran, although to be honest, I have only allowed myself to acknowledge that pride in recent years. When it comes to my Vietnam experience, I lived my life like the proverbial cat in a cat-box, scratching around to cover up the experience so no one would make the connection. However, my ties to the 589th Association and reuniting with the brothers I served with 45 years ago has given me something to run to, as opposed to what I had been running from. The Annual Reunion is a great place to start the journey. Please consider attending; if not for yourself, for us who still consider you an important part of our lives.

Beware of the 30-20-10 rule that states a submission must meet one of three requirements (abbreviated in this email): i.e. minimum of 30 minutes of recorded interview; or, minimum of 20 pages of written narrative; or, minimum of 10 photographs, maps, other documentation.

If you haven't been to one of our reunions, please don't put off the chance to reconnect with your 589th Vietnam buddies any longer. We never know what another year will bring in our ability to make the trip so come now! I'm sure you won't ever regret it!
