I sympathize with the guys from the East Coast regarding the reunion location, because I come from the West Coast each year. If we had a meeting here, someone would have to plan and coordinate it, and I don't want to do all of that work. So I save my pennies and travel to Branson. It is well worth the hassle of getting there. I meet great people from HHC, Co B, Co C, and Co D - and the Co A heathens who are always amusing. I am totally satisfied that the reunion location was fully researched and properly discussed and voted on by the membership even though I am one of 3 people who has to travel the greatest distance to get there.

Great job Nick, I like Paul have not been to a reunion, but plan on going in 2015 where ever you have it. It's not about the location it's about the members and renewing old friendships.keep up the great work.
Thanks again Howard |

Great job on comments about the reunion. It is unfortunate that all the work that has been done to create our association and organize 6 reunions is expected to be ignored for a "chosen fews"convience. My wife and I have missed only one when I was recovering from surgery. We make the trip a vacation,Wedding anniversary and reunion and enjoy the DRIVE |

LAST PART;Finding a place that makes everyone happy will probably never happen as if we go too far one way or the other we will lose some members and gain some members. I hope this at least lets you know that the Reunion is not planned by a “chosen few” to quote you and that it was by your fellow members who voted on this and done so in the proper manner. It is our sincere hope that somehow you can find a way to attend a Reunion as they are enjoyed by all. If you schedule your flight into Branson or Springfield we will work with you on transportation to and from the hotel as several members have offered to do this in the past. Thank you for your comments and Welcome Home!

SECOND PART: Discussion was held on this matter and the attending members voted (this is all stated in the Minutes found on the website under 589th Docs to keep the Reunion in Branson based on the findings of the committee and the way we are treated in the city of Branson. There was one dissenting vote to staying in Branson. You mentioned Nashville, Vegas and Washington DC and these, among others, were looked into. The cost of the hotel room alone would have added over $120.00 to room cost per person for the three nights stay in Nashville, Vegas is what it is and hardly anyone wanted to go there and Washington DC would add over $140.00 per night to the room cost alone with much higher meals and meeting room rental. Along with the other higher cost that was discovered it was felt that it would put attending the Reunion financially out of reach for many of our members. At the 2012 business meeting it was asked how many drove to the reunion and almost 75% of those attending did drive

To Al Cenotti, and the others he named or referred to. There will be multiple parts to my comments on this issue based on size. First I want to apologize for not responding to your first comments as I was trying to make sure I worded things correctly. As the President of the 589th I want to let you know that we understand your feelings and have done our best to address them at our business meetings. We had a committee that researched other possible locations to hold our annual Reunion. They reported to us at the 2013 Reunion meeting (our by-laws state this is when we hold our business meetings) on the cost of hotels, meals, meeting room rentals and potential travel to these locations. Nothing compared to the benefits we get from the Stone Castle in Branson MO and was not as centrally located in the United States as we have members from all over the country. SEE NEXT PART!

I just recieved a e-mail from John Miller asking all the Co.D men to join reunion in way away Branson MO. This location is difficult to get to and return from.... this needs to change!! Please all you soldiers who would like a new reunion location that would be easier with "direct flights to and from like Nashville ,Vegas, Wash. D.C. etc,.. please respond!!!!! We need a new location so people from east coast and others who find this remote location hard to get to get a chance to attend a reunion where its easy to get to and from ....if there is voting for this it should be voted on by all members of the 589th not a chosen few....I hope for at least once we change location before I or my pals pass away..this would be an injustice to our service.... Thank you sincerally yours, Albert Cenotti , Stanley Olzak, Tom Venezia ,and others "many others"

Hi 589th ..I am writing to say how sad I am...we have been looking forward to going to this years reunion with Stanley Olzak and his wife and posibly another couple from P.A. The flights to and from MO. are all layover 2-6 hrs and you have to board another plane and they can.t guarantee the second flight ,,,it might be full already... then we have to land 55 miles away and drive to Branson... why is this always in Branson????????? There are alot of spots here near east coast where you can fly in non stop!!!!!!!!!and still have a great time!!!!! Maybe more fellow brothers would come .... We were all looking forward to coming this and now we are bummed out.........Please change location so more fellow brothers can come and enjoy each others company.... Why don.t you take a poll from all members who haven.t come not the members who come and you might be surprised why more haven't come.....Your brother G.I. Al Cenotti,Stan Olzak,Tom Venezia,Rick Hartman etc.. D Co. men from 1968-69
