Gerald I know that Donnie Rex Bogg's family would love to hear from someone who was there with him when he was injured. If you want I can help you get in touch with his family. I have grown very attached to the family after meeting them and taking part in the Honor Our Fallen project every year. If you would like to get in touch with me I would be glad to help you connect with them. I know it would mean a lot for them to hear what you might have to say.

I was Donnie (aka Rex) Boggs platoon leader and was with him the day he was killed. The medic Thomas Powers and I performed CPR on Rex until the medivac arrived. I would be honored to share my memories of him with his family.

To CHRISTINE LUSSIER: Christine - unfortunately but not unexpected, our ranks have been depleted by age, accidents, and agent orange. It would be helpful to know which company your father was in and when he was there in finding one of us who knew him. If you go to the Membership tab within this website, you will find the rosters for each of the companies. There, you will find in which company and when he was there. Provide that information to us and we can search for those who knew him. Also, our history book (sold on our PX on this website and sold by Amazon) would tell you of what his unit was involved in / where it was at during his time in Vietnam. Unfortunately, your story of losing contact with your father because of changes he underwent as result of Vietnam is not an isolated one. Take care.

I received this email a few days ago from a nephew of Donnie Rex Boggs requesting any information someone in the 589th might have about him. If you can help in any way let me know and I'll give you his email address, Thanks, PerryB
Good evening, I figured Memorial Day would be a good day to send this email. I am Chase Boggs, Donnie Rex Boggs’ nephew. He was in C Co in the 589th and was killed in late April of 1970. I never met him, my dad was only a toddler when he was killed, but I want to learn as much as I can about him and his time in Vietnam. I was in the Marine Corps and recently EASed. I was stationed in Washington DC and performed ceremonies all over the Capitol Region whenever I wasn’t conducting infantry training in Quantico, primarily as a part of the firing party at Arlington National Cemetery, where I conducted 222 funerals during my time in the service. I had the blessing of visiting my uncle at The Wall whenever I wanted to during my time in The Capitol, but due to the nature of his death the family never got much information regarding it. I was wondering if there was anybody I could get in contact with from C Co who might have information about him or stories/pictures of him from his time in Vietnam. I’m particularly curious about the instances surrounding his death, but any and all information is welcome. I’m a big family history guy, particularly family military history as we have had someone serving during nearly every conflict all the way back to the Civil War and beyond. Thanks, Chase Boggs |

Our PX, HOF donations, and Membership donations pages are temporary closed due to the gateway we use for collecting funds abruptly shutting down. We are working on finding another solution and hopefully will be back online soon.
Thanks for your understanding. Perry Blanchfield |

A heart felt thank you to my brothers and your wives for the compassion and love in the messages and phone calls about Anita. She enjoyed the reunions and meeting new friends and was hoping to go again this year.
A special thanks to John and Fritz for attending the funeral service and to Doyle and Brenda for taking care of honor our fallen that we have been doing together. Thanks again Tommy |

Reading the obituaries has been difficult. Perry has done a wonderful job putting together the website. Bob Spencer and other have added to the short stories. There will come a time when this is lost. In additon to the book Dennie and I together on the 589th's history, I'm thinking (with Bob and Dennie's help) of putting together a book of "Memories and Aftermath" using the guestbook postings, the short stories, and the photographs to capture the website information. I know that Bob is interested. Dennie - can you assist in getting it printed using your contacts from the last book? Are others interested in us making this effort? I'm thinking of dedicated it to "Our children and grandchildren (and their families) who have served in America's wars since Vietnam". Thoughts on this?

Pam, so sorry to hear about Paul's latest condition. As the last time we spoke you had told me of his earlier problems and why you could attend any reunions. I wish the best for Paul, you and your family. You will be in my prayers.
