Hello, I just started to look at the different comments left. I was with D co from Mar 66 to April of 68. Reading the comments brought back memories of my time with the 589th. My thoughts of the time in country have somewhat been erased due to time. I just looked at my slides of which I have not looked at in over 40 years, wow where has the time gone? Perry I want to thank you and your staff, for the work you have done on this site.Hey boat people do you remember leaving Ft Hood from the loading docks right to the gangway of the USS John Pope? I still remember the sign at the top of the gangway that read "Your tour of duty starts after you cross this line" It did not tell me how to get over being sea sick as soon as we got past the Golden Gate Bridge.Thank God I got my sea legs soon after. As soon as I can separate my photos of the 589th from the 517th I will forward them. Thanks for letting me have a say. Jerry Jones

It is with a sad heart that I must report to you that we have lost another of our A Co. Brothers. Jerry Golden passed away on Mar 19th. His wife Dorothy said he had a serious heart condition and was suffering from prostate cancer as well.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Rest in peace Brother.

I just spoke to one of my A Co brothers, Joe Lagassee. He is not doing very well at all. His kidneys are shutting down, he has daily severe migraine headaches, and other serious issues. We talked for quite a while and had a real good conversation. He said he knew he probably has very little time left.

When I asked him if it would be ok for his Brothers to call him, he said yes so please feel free to give Joe a call, I know he would appreciate hearing from you.

Joe's phone number is 207-784-4872

We have had quite a few of you that have entered your Guestbook comments in the wrong place. I'll take the blame for most of that and have made some changes that I am hoping will eliminate the confusion.

1. Added A larger font for the underlined blue text link at the top of the page to: "Please Click Here to Leave A Guestbook Comment".

2. Restricting the number of messages to 10 and number of characters per comment to 1000. This should prevent the link to enter a Guestbook Comment form being hidden when scrolling down.

3.A message at the bottom of the page to: "Please scroll to the top to leave a Guestbook Comment."

4. A message on the Website Comment form at the bottom of the page that states "This form is for Comments about our Website. It is not for Guestbook Comments."

Our Guestbook is the most viewed page on our website. Our Brothers value and want to hear what you have to say. Please contribute to it by leaving YOUR comments too.

Found Col Snoke somewhere outside Cincinnati, Ohio. He still sounds with it.
Wanted to let the early guys know I met a retired Col a few days ago. He was a Transportation Officer stationed in Saigon and responsible for getting fuel off ships and out to where it was needed. I told him about 589th project to work on the POL line from Qui Nhon to An Khe. He knew all about the project but didn't know who did the work. He passed along his thanks. He said if they could get one good day's pumping, they could handle the needs at AK for 3 weeks. He asked that I pass on Transportation Corps thanks to those who did the work.
