I read Bob Spencer's post on the Guest Book and want to say "Thank you Bob for what I cannot put into words like you do"! What Bob said is what we are after with the Roll Call project. Thanks again Bob!

Hey guys please pay real close attention. The Website comments below is not the Guest Book. If you submit it there only Perry and I will see it. Please use the Guest Book for things you want everyone to see. The website comments are for letting us know of issues you have with the website. Perry will have to give more detail when he gets back to his home. In the mean time call me with questions.

Fletcher. Thanks for sharing the medical issue you are facing. Remember that you have lots of company and the medical technology of today will provide you with a good chance of living a completely normal life. It has been 14 years for me.
I appreciate Fletcher letting us know he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer for a couple of reasons. The first is that many of us are interested in the health and welfare of our Brothers – not that Fletcher wants to tell the world about his issues, it is that his brothers really want to know. I speak for many when I say the connection we share, as Brothers of the 589th Engineer Association, goes far beyond casual acquaintance – to me it is a bond difficult to describe, but is significant in my life. The second reason is that Fletcher’s cancer should provide the rest of us with a heads-up warning. As a Vietnam veteran, if you haven’t already experienced one of the many problems associated with exposure to Agent Orange, the odds are very high you will. If you are one of the few not experiencing at least one of the many complications of exposure to Agent Orange or the psychological effects of service in Vietnam, you are in the minority. Don’t let it sneak-up on you. Fletcher is a good example of how and why we need to stay better connected. I hope each of us will remember our Brothers as we face the challenges in life – don’t leave the rest of us behind. |

Hi, I wanted to share this email I received from Tom as it is another good reason and result from attending one of our reunions if you have not already have or to attend another one!
Nick, Forgot to mention in my previous email that after attending last year's reunion I went to Alabama to visit my brother. He arrived in Vietnam shortly after I left in 1968. After more than 40 years we at last talked/opened up about our Vietnam experience. I don't think that this would have happen if I had not attended the reunion. I wish that I could thank everyone personally for making this to happen. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks Tom Briseño |
