Hello, everyone! I can't wait to see some of you again in a couple of weeks. I am requesting that is you are coming to the reunion and want me to look or help you with anything through the VA I need you to bring all your correspondence and letters and you DD214 with you so I can have a chance to see if there is anything that I can help with. I will be bringing a computer and copier with me this year so if you are not enrolled with the Medical part of the VA I will do that for you also there. SO if you need to get enrolled for medical benefits it is easy if you bring your last year tax return paperwork. And again you’re DD 214. Please call me if you have any questions before the reunion. 641-484-3160. the count done has begun only 3 more weeks I will also be sending an email out to Perry to make sure he can mail this letter out.

I was in co. d 2 construction platoon .Ft. Hood from the begining.took the long slow train to Oakland then the U.S General John Pope to nam. we lived like animals in tents dug in trenches with sand bag bunkers between the tents.took showers in bug infested water and shit in buckets. we had no rear area to go to that had a hootch type building. there were no infantry or artillery to help us, we did it ourselves. I as well as the rest of us lived in fear nitely, the vc were there. nobody showed their rank including the capt. who always wore plaid shorts and a t shirt. I cant forget this crap because I took movies of it all the time. jones, price, strassner, kazins ki,wildnour, musac, giles, rees e,cunningham, oneal, ferro, dob bs, grey, hodges, and more were in my platoon

To Ted Covington - welcome aboard! In looking at your MOS you must have been in Earthmoving Platoon of C Company when Norm Goodman was hit. If you look at the C Company roster, you will notice that we have a large EM Platoon membership, including many of us who were there when that mortar landed in the platoon sleeping area. Norm had 6 brothers and sisters, all of whom are members of the 589th Association and most of whom show up at the reunions every year. Knowing them has been great. It is unfortunate that you are listed under B Company rather than C Company, but B Company is OK - fortunately you avoided A Company.

Hello to my brother's of the 589th sorry that I can't be at the reunion this year, but God willing will be there next year because I'm retiring. I was with C Co. From January 69 to June 69 then transferred to B Co. Up to November 69. I was there in song pha when Goodman got hit in a mortar attack. I was right behind him running to a Bunker. The blast knocked me down.Goodman was a good Guy & a good soldier. I went to his memorial there in Vietnam. They built a basketball court with his name God bless / Ted Covington

Stumbling around on the web, I found this thread. My father was Richard Weaver from Pearland, Tx. I have seen his name here a couple times. He passed away in '94, but I'm hoping to get some stories aboutancient his time in Vietnam. Email is psychodillo@yahoo.com
