I have had the opportunity to talk to many of our members that are coming to the reunion this year. Some are coming for the first time and I hope we all make them feel welcome. The one thing that I hear from everyone is that they are really looking forward to coming and talking to old freinds. Many say the reunion is the best thing that has happened to them recently and has helped soothe many a bad memory. My point is that if you have not attended a reunion or have not signed up this year you have missed a great oppurtunity to see "old friends" and make new ones. Sure hope to see more of you sign up in the future. In the meantime let us know how you are doing and if we can be of assitance in any way. The other thing I have heard many times is be sure to sign up at the VA if you have not already. Good luck to all and see you in a few short weeks if you signed up this year. If you did not we will miss you. Welcome Home to all!!

It is with sad heart that we have to report the passing of another Brother. Willian Holt of HHC passed away on July 24, 2012. Judy said he was really looking forward to coming to the reunion again this year. It does make one realize that life is too short and can change at anytime. I hope you will put Bill's family in your thoughts and prayers.

Bob, I just read your remarkable conversation with "Latrine"! It had me laughing out loud and remembering the smells of shit burning. I am real glad that made up names were used to protect the innocent (HA), sure would not want anyone to know who they are as it sounds there is no statute of limitations involved. It did bring many memories and one was those USO girls who had cramps when we saw them too. Great job!

For those of you interested in short stories, I posted a new one on the Blog Page titled "The Death of a Latrine". I hope you find it interesting, or better yet amusing. Many of you will recognize the characters involved, although their names have been changed to protect the "not-so" innocent. I am always interested in your feedback. See you at the reunion.

Here it is the first of August already and it is only 7 weeks to reunion time. I see a lot of names that were there last year and some new ones. Those of you that haven't signed up yet you better get on the stick. The brotherhood, friendship and love felt at one of our reunions can only be truly be experienced by attending the runnions. Hope to see more sign up and make thier way to Branson. See you all in a little bit. Welcome hone to all Brothers, Nick Kallas C Company EM Platoon

I am researching the 589th for Roy Sanders (motorgrader). He remembers a Hershy and Kenneth Ellington. I will get him online to sign in. Thank you each for your service. Gil-T 101st. Airborne

Perry -- Thanks. The more I try to remember that day, I do believe that we did have a dust off after the attack. That must have been Sherlin. SSG Tyler was killed instantly. A B40 hit the 290M that he was sitting on. We were ambushed at lunch time. SSG Tyler apparently had served previously with Frank Cheatam, the D Co. maintenance Warrant Officer. I remember Frank being very upset. I also remember taking SSG Tyler back to Phan Rang to the Graves Registration unit there. After that attack, we stopped working on QL1and went into land clearing mode to prevent any future similar ambushes. We were never hit again on the work site.
