Bob is a terrific writer. I love his short stories. I am sure there are many of us ole Mountain Movers have some terrific tales to tell as well. I do appreciate the very positive response to my little book. I do owe my CO an apology for his getting his name wrong: LTC Grum not Glum...what was I thinking? That is what I get for doing most of my own editing.

To Willie Bonney - actually, we have two authors in the battalion. At the rate he is going, Bob Spencer could compile a book of short stories. Reading and writing are not skills that I remember Mountain Movers being particularly strong at - but then I remember those PM (Preventive Maintenance) booklets that we use to get each month with the drawings of curvy females - and the dedication with which Mountain Movers read those PM booklets while ignoring the drawings of the curvy females.

Al, Read your book. Enjoyed every word of it. The bridge you wrote about, with big hole blown in it, I remember very well. The plt I was in had to repair it. I can aiso tell you haow it got blown up. The bridge was just east of An Khe.Also, the bridge West of An Khe, I was building it when I left. Iwill never forget 11mar68. I thought my God had come to take me home. We had a rocket that morning and I thought this is it. But thank the Good Lord we all made it. Your book is awesome, Will see you in Sep.

I believe I recognize you...and I think the last name of the brother holding M79 grenade launcher with a slim cigar in his mouth is Alexander???...I see a figure with the same stance I had...always had hands in pockets when thinking and looking at a project and hat rim turned up
