Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I purchased Al Carlisle's book "Depth of Field" at Barnes & Noble. It was only $10.95 and well worth the price. Since I was one of the very first to arrive and leave the 589th from QL-19 the first few chapters really brought back a lot of old memories. God bless you all

To Bob Spencer - another great article written by you. While most of us came through Fort Lewis and Seattle Airport, many Vietnam veterans ended up flying through San Francisco Airport on the way home. San Francisco Airport seems to have been particularly bad. A friend of mine from the 14th Engineer Battalion (to which the EM Platoon of C Company provided support for 5 months on the DMZ) spent 18 months in Vietnam and was wounded twice, At San Francisco Airport some guy spit on his ribbons and he punched the guy out. Subsequently, he spent his first night in the US in jail for assault (the charges were dismissed). Somehow those who were afraid to go ended up victimizing those who had the courage to go. Ironically, about 10 years after Vietnam there was a new crowd of "Vietnam Wannabee Fakes." That was then. All we can do now is ensure the veterans who are fighting now are treated well including getting the kind of medical care that many Vietnam veterans should have received.
