Just found out that Thomas O'Dea died suddenly on May 10th. He was one of the finest officers I had the pleasure of serving with.

To all my 589th brothers, have a safe and memorable Memorial Day; remember: "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends."

On this Memorial Day weekend, may we each take a moment to remember those we lost in Vietnam, those who returned physically and emotionally wounded, those we lost since returning, and all those who gave themselves to serve. There isn’t a day goes by I am not reminded of them, the contribution they made for freedom, the legacy they left and the sacrifice they made on our behalf. Our casualties may not be with us today, but they are not gone from our thoughts, nor gone from our memories. God bless every one of them - and God bless America.

Do any of the new members remember me??? Go to my first guestbook message dated Feb 15th 2010. If so I would like to hear from you. I was in the 589th way prior to most of the members that are on the guestbook pages, and went over with the very first members.

I posted another short story to the Blog section for those of you with an interest in reading it. I wrote the story several months ago, but was just struck with the courage to post it this morning. I hope there are portions of the story you can relate to, but other portions not. Enjoy your day

Nobody doubts that A Company can read as long as they can move their lips and use their fingers and they have lots of time and the words are not very big.

Al's book is a great read. C Company - check out pages 117 to 118. Al is in the hospital at Nha Trang when Cirilo Silva is brought in after the ambush Cirilo was in. Cirilo is shot up and still shows a sense of humor!
