I was going through some of the web pages. There is a Todd Horner looking for someone from the 51 asphalt patoon. There was a guy I think named Horner, but not sure what his job was, or where was from. I worked mostly on 5 to 8 ton roller, sometimes on the paver. I would like to know if any of you know a guy guy named Sibernickel (sp). Thanks for setting web sit, its great.

I worked in the quarry at Phan Rang -true during the rainy season things were slow, even boring because the crusher screens would clog up but when the weather cleared up, we worked practically around the clock to make up for lost production and that was no picnic or R & R. My R & R was when I went to Bangkok,Thailand.

I am glad some had a good time in Phan Rang. It was like R&R when we got to go into Phan Rang on supply runs.

Anyone from B Co. remember us asphalt guys that got ambushed 31 Jan. 1971? I was shot in the gut when that happened. I was a "short timer" with 28 days left over there, what a bummer!

lI was in the 2nd "SUPER DEUCE" Plt. You mentioned the "IRONBUTTERFLY", I rode out to the jobsite a few times riding shiotgun for you on that big Catipillar grader at LZ Last Chance. If I remember right you were the only CAT grader in the company, all of the other ones were newer and a different make. Good to hear from you old buddy!

Fred, I was with B Co. 589th. and worked on Deros Hill in Phan-Rang with Joe Wagner, Carl Fisher, Mike who were all 290 scraper operators. I was a road grader operator. My machine was called the " Iron Butterfly " and also worked on QL 1 highway. M.oved to Vinh-Hoa were we built the compound between two hills, later named LZ Last Chance. In 2005, I returned to Nam and found our compound now is a water bottling plant with the big hole that we created removing all the fill for the road now full of water and still looks much the same as when we were there.
