Engineers at War - for those who would like to purchase the book you can do so by calling the GAO bookstore at 1-866-512-1800 and ask for CMH Pub 91-14-1. Perhaps the Association would like to purchase a couple and auction them at the next Reunion. Take care all - I'll see you at Branson.

Hey Guys, For the "Engineers at War" book go to the "links and Hot Issues" tab on our home page and click on the "Engineers at War" link at the bottom of the page then when the page loads click on the "to download as PDF cllick here" link. This should download the eBook to your browser window. Now you can save it to your desktop or any place else you would like. You might have to try this several times before it actually downloads. You can do a search for "589th" and find several referances to our battalion. Enjoy and thank you Larry J for posting this info.

The Army has just published a book titled: United States Army in Vietnam - Engineers at War. The level of detail regarding engineer operations in Vietnam is extraordinary. You can download it for free at http://www.history.army.mil/ html/books/091/91-14-1/index .html. If you go to the index pages you will find the 589th on page 628; Qui Nhon on P. 641; An Khe on p. 618; Da Lat on P. 623; oops - Phan Rang is listed but I forgot to get the page number; and Highways 11 and 19 on P. 632. The 51st Asphalt Platoon is specifically mentioned on P. 336. EM Platoon /C Company may also find of interest Wunder (Utah) Beach P. 647; Camp Evans P.620; 14th Engineers P. 625-626; Khe Sanh P. 634; and A Shau Valley P. 617.
