Bill Bonney --- Thanks for the kind words! --- A word to Richard Carpenter --- Take (send) a copy of ALL your evidece to the Dept. of the Army Awards and Decorations Board. Your witness statements pictures, etc. and a sworn statement from you, along with copies of the morning reports from the 19th Eng and your unit, showing light duty should get it done. The Army cannot arbitrarily deny "new evidence" -- You are entitled to an award of the Purple Heart Medal, which will, in turn, be evidentiary in your claim for service connected disability with the VA. Once again, go to a Service Organization Service Officer (preferably at a Regional VA office, VA Clinic or State VA Office.) I would not advise you to use a Post Service Officer, as most are not trained in claims work. Tom

This is for Nick and Willy --- then I'll shut up and get out of your guest book. I was the County Veterans Service Officer in Peoria County, Illinois for 14 tears, and served 2 years as President of the Nat;l. Assoc. of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). You both have the right idea --- keep after the VA! If you try to do it all on your own, you will be barking at the tree for way too long. Use the Vetrans Organization Service Officers to represent you in your claims and appeals to the VA (Legion, VFW, DAF, AMVETS, NACVSO). These guys are highly trained and educated to assist us (Vets) with VA claims. You'll find them at every VA Regional Office, most VA clinics and the CVSO's are usually at the County Courthouse. Every State Veterans Affairsd Office also has trained Service Officers throughout thir respective States. Good luck to all of you; remember, "Non Illigitimus Carborundum !"
