Ken, That was the 2nd Plt., B Co. that built Peanuts (the bridge) at the west end of Derose Hill. I was a Sgt. and with us were Barney Bacon, Tim Hall, Steve Zadroga, Sgt. Rip Van Winkle,Charlie Ayers and a lot of other good men. We were on QL-11, and boy were we glad that the earth moving Plt. finally cut through Dreos hill, before you used the old French road- up-down-over - back, a real good place for an ambush.

Jim Castro, I knew a lot of the guys in the 687th when it was formed. In 68 I was in the 87th Engrs. When they went home in Jan. 69, they took all of the earthmoving plts. and made them into the 687th. In 69 one plt. of the 687th was at Phan Rang re-equiping, I went over and found a bunch of my buddies from the 87th. I haven,t thought about the 687th in a long time.
