Larry and Mike, Unfortunately, I'm not bringing a scanner. I'm bringing a data projector and laptop so we can see the photos we've already digitized. Sorry...if you're interested in getting your photos scanned...you might try Kinko's or a place like that. Shouldn't cost much.

Mike - simply outstanding. Norm's family doesn't have the pictures that Norm took in Vietnam, and surprisingly neither Dennis Cluth or I can find a decent picture of him. Dennis is bringing some type of machine with him to the reunion to digitize photographs, so if you could bring Norm's pictures we will be able to digitize them and send the digitized copies to his family.

Larry Jinkins, I left a picture of Norm Goodman at "The Wall" three years ago. I have a couple more pics of Norm if the family is interested. See you in Missouri.

Military Uniform Items. I recently had the honor of assisting Norm Goodman's family with obtaining military items for Norm's shadow box that one of his brothers has built. From that experience I learned that ordering military items on-line is easy. For obtaining medals and ribbons, I recommend going to www.usamilitarymedals.com. For obtaining the 18th Engineer Brigade patch and the 589th crest, I recommend going to www.saundersinsignia.com.

The 589th's after action reports are very interesting reading, and they can be ordered on-line in microfische from the National Technical Information Service. Go to "www.google.com"; search on "ntis.gov"; click on "NTIS Homepage"; go to the search block on the right that says "Technical Reports Search; type in "Lessons Learned, Headquarters, 589th Engineer Battalion"; and a list of the reports will come up. There is a cost for each report, but the handling fee is the same whether you order one report or all of them. Most libraries still have microfische machines.

If you would like to see closeup satellite and photograph shots of what Vietnam looks like today - go to www.wikimapia.org (not wikipedia). Navigate to Dalat and work yourself east towards Pha Rang. On the pass you will find an entry for "Road Reconstruction 1968-71" where I added a narrative regarding the 589th. Keep moving east and you will find Company C's base camp outlined and a narrative I placed there. I've done the same for An Khe Pass and Wunder Beach. Be sure to add a positve (be nice) comment under each entry since Wikimapia will only keep the entries if it gets enough interest in them. Go to "Map Type" and click on "Google Panoramia." Photographs will pop up. There is a particulary good recent photo taken from the mountain of the Song Pha power plant and Company C's base camp.

Does anyone know if the Lee Borman listed under deceased for Company C is the one we used to call Bugsy Borman?

I was in A Co 14th Engr Bn. from 4/68 to 8/69. I was on Wunder Beach and L Z Nancy. I was a dozer/Rome Plow operator and Motor Sgt whenever they needed one. The mortar attack in 4/68 that Larry Jinkens mentioned was my ' "cherry popper" as far as hostile fire goes. I also watched Camp Evans get hit while sitting on a bunker doing my first "doobie". I was on L Z Nancy on 8/16/68 when we got hit and Larry Jinkins' high school friend, Elliot De Cora, was killed.

Thanks to Dennis Cluth and Larry Jinkins for their Memories and Vietnam Impressions. They brought back a lot of memories for me as well. If anyone else wants to add to these please send them to me in an email and I will post them on the Memories and Stories Page along with Dennis' and Larry's.
