I received a nice letter from Ruth Sapp, wife of Fletcher Sapp HHC, who passed away recently. She asked me to pass on the family's thanks for the thoughts and prayers of the 589th engineer Battalion. She said Fletcher was proud to have been a part of our organization.

Thank you for excellent answer Bob! I think you said exactly what needs to be said and in a manner that was easy to understand. You are always clear in your statements. Thanks again and I plan on seeing you there even if I wear a mask!

Love to all Brothers!

Regarding cancelling a scheduled reunion, the Association does not have a formal policy. If I were to draft such a policy for consideration, I would not consider the Delta Variant, the possibility of an early flu season, a hurricane forecast, a locust infestation, fear of the spread of Africanized honey bees, or any one of a thousand events that are important to us individually but are not likely to affect everyone planning to attend. The only factor that I can identify that would cause a cancellation is lack of attendance……and I do not know what that magic minimum number should be. Individuals will ultimately decide to attend or not, and their decision will be the culmination of considering the factors important to them personally. After weighing everything, if enough people can attend, we’ll have a reunion. If not, a cancellation won’t bother anyone because they weren’t planning to attend anyway.

If there is one concern shared by many, it would probably be COVID 19 or the Delta Variant. That must be a personal call. Personally, after all that transpired last year, I have removed the politicians’ leash from my neck and I’m making decisions about COVID independent of political winds. We may have no-shows because of COVID. That is understandable. We may have others attending, but want the safety attributed to wearing a mask, which I think is fine. However, I believe there will be many like myself who will attend regardless of the Delta Deviant, without a mask, and totally without fear of consequences. I’m not from New Hampshire, but I appreciate their slogan “Live Free or Die.”

So, if there needs to be a cancellation, I believe that will be determined by the number attending. I also believe those planning to attend will participate in any decision to cancel, along with the Board. I understand that it is important to be prepared for every possibility, but I believe that if we spend our time and energy preparing for a good reunion, we can overcome any problems that arise along the way.

I had to miss the last reunion, so I am particularly excited about this one, as I hope you are. Remember that your attendance is as important to us as it is to you, so please help us out. Make the commitment to attend, register - it is easy, and prepare to have a good time. See you in Branson.

Good question Nick. At our age safety is an important concern. Maybe we coul d hold our business meeting on the web if so decided. I'm registered but still indecisive on what I think we should do.

Watching the news and seeing where Springfield and Branson MO are hard hit with the Delta Variant to Covid 19. Will there be a timeline to where the Reunion would be cancelled due to the Delta virus or lack of sign up to attend? Just wondering what the plan is.
