589th Brothers- Please accept my Best Wishes for a happy and meaningful Veteran's Day, November 11th. How people's attitudes toward Vietnam Veteran's have changed over these fifty plus years. When people understand now that I am a veteran, I almost always get a thoughtful "Thank You For Your Service" comment. How different from those days after we returned home back then and experienced the public's concept of who we were and what we had so unselfishly done for our country.

My best regards too to our 589th Association Board Members who do so much for us and who don't normally get the accolades that they so rightfully deserve.

Cirilo Silva was hit 5 times by an AK 47 west of Tan My bridge in December 1968 when he had 3 days left in country. His wife had lost her brother in Vietnam the previous year. Cirilo passed away last year. Shortly thereafter his wife, Diane, was in a horrible car accident that resulted in 4 neck breaks, smashed pelvis, and numerous other injuries. I talked with her this week (while her daughter was driving her to the hospital). She is doing better and would like to attend the next reunion if she is capable.

***** Please be aware that several of our members have reported receiving an email requesting they buy $600 worth of Gift Cards.*****DON'T FALL FOR IT!**** It's a SCAM! We would never ask you to do such a stupid thing. The email appears to be sent by me but the email address isn't our 589th@589thEngineers.com official address.

I have removed all email addresses linked to our Board and Committee Members on those pages as well as anywhere else on the website.

Please let me know if you have also received an email from me with a similar request.

It's getting crazier out there every day!

Perry is that a good date in Sept, 2021, 13-14-15
Reply Tim, The Board felt that since these were the only dates in Sept that we could get the Stonehenge Hospitality room, which we would need for our expected group size, that it wouldn't matter if it was Sunday through Wednesday rather than our usual Thursday through Sunday. It's getting very difficult getting the rooms we want at the Stone Castle. We can certainly talk about other options at next year's Board meeting. Perry

This past week has been a very difficult one for the EM Platoon of C Company.
In the past week Hugh McCaa lost his wife Shirley and then Ralph Downing lost his Carolyn. Those of us that got to know and love Shirley and Carolyn knew what what wonderful and loving women they were! Both of them dearly loved there family and friends. We will dearly miss these wonderful women in our lives!
Shirley and Carolyn we love you!
