Good point Bill. Two things I would hope to have if and when we move is an appreciation of Veterans and lots of things for our Wives and guest to do and enjoy.

First of all, Ft Hood was nothing more than a staging area. Once they had their stuff together they were off to Vietnam. The 589th did not become itself until it landed in Vietnam. As far as the reunions go, I think they need to be more centrally located to the east where the majority our members live. Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee. Maybe even Pennsylvania. Just for the record, I live in Louisiana.

No more comment about the reunion.
:bonk:
Reply Your comments about where or when to go to reunions are very welcome and actually encouraged just like everybody else's. Just get off that crap about how the Fort Hood men did more and were more important than anybody else. We all contributed equally! Nobody wants to hear it.

Willie, I'm sorry you feel that way, I care what everybody involved thinks about our reunions and want us all to enjoy them..Where we go is the least important part of it.

Ft. L. Wood had a good training program for operating heavy equipment also.

Tom McLain, who cares what think. Just for yourinformation, the people that served in the 589th Engr. Bn. is the 589th. we made the Bn. We train every day to prepare the Bn. to get it ready to go to Vietnam. If it had not been for us you would have made. Our hard training at Fort Hood is what made the Bn. what it is today. Smile
Reply So, only those that came over from Fort Hood were trained? And only those that trained at Fort Hood worked hard at their training?

Thanks to Perry for thinking about security! Can you take our email off here now that you mention security?

To Willie, it might be time to change where we have the reunion but I do not think taking the Battalion home to Ft Hood would work. I would guess that like Tommy said for many it means nothing as home of the 589th to most of us would be Nam. I went to Ft Hood when I came back from Nam otherwise it would mean nothing to me. Sorry Willie we disagree on this one!

Hope to see and talk to most of you in Branson this year. If you want a change remember that at the last meeting it was decided that if you want change bring info on where to go and cost estimates.

Personally I do not care where we go or what we do as long as I see my Brothers every year!
Reply Thanks, Nick. I did think about that and will work on taking the need for email off the guestbook postings.

Ft Hood means nothing to me. Never been there don't intend to go. The location is up to the board. Run for office if want input on the location of the reunion. I would like Chattanooga. Then I could sleep in my own bed every night but it would be more expensive than Branson.

Hello all,
Wanted to let you know I've been communicating with a grand son of Myron Snoke who was our 1st Bn Cdr. Jarrett first checked in with Perry looking for anyone who he could contact to find out more about the Col who BTW is doing very well. I think I've convinced Jarrett that he should come to the reunion and bring his granddad. Col Snoke isn't sure that there would be anyone there from his time with the unit! I'm hoping that we can get that to happen. If anyone has pics or stories about Col Snoke they would like to pass on to his Grandson, let me know and I'll get you in touch.
Hope all is well with everyone and you're all staying away from this flu.
