50 years ago I was on leave before reporting to go to Nam. I did not know what the coming year would bring or if I would come home, I knew I was going to try my best. My Dad said don't be a hero and I said OK! What I did not know either was all the friends I would make In Nam and then how many I would make at ensuing reunions! I want to wish all my Brothers and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Welcome Home to all Brothers!

Fellow 589th Association Members- I thought that I would wish all of you the best on this Veteran's Day, 2017. As opposed to our returning reception back stateside in the Vietnam Era, things have certainly changed as far as our perception as veterans by the general public. I've noticed many public and private grateful expressions for the national service of almost 19 million veterans living today. When people find that you're a veteran, they thank you for your contributions. Many businesses and restaurants here in the West yesterday and today are offering free meals, deals and accommodations to veterans along with local parades and events in towns and cities recognizing our dedicated and selfless service to the nation. How times have changed.
Once again, my best wishes to you for a meaningful Veteran's Day. Kevin Casey/HHC/1967-68 |
