For all my A co. brothers, got a call yesterday telling me that Jerry Best had passed away over the weekend. He is at Greenview funeral home in Florence, al.
Reply So sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. I have posted his obituary along with Visitation and Funeral service times on the Latest News Page. Very glad that many of Jerry's A Co. Brothers were able to visit with him at the Lexington Mini-Reunion. R.I.P. Brother,

Those of you wanting to read a good book about a chopper pilot\'s experience in Vietnam should read Mark Garrison\'s book, Guts and Gunships. We ground soldiers were lucky to have guys like him in the air.

John, it was a very good day & a pretty good breakfast. I am still stunned running into you. I was taken aback when I looked up & saw the 589th hat. You just don't see to many of those, but then again there are just a few of the "chosen few "
I will give you a call & we can get together. Welcome home Brother |

Just got a phone call from one of our Brothers on how to sign up for the Golf Outing. I looked at Reunion sign up and all I saw was a place to say yes or no. He wanted to play but to also sign up a family member. I gave him Jim Swick's cell number for more info. Hope I did the right thing in trying to help a Brother! Can we get more info on the golf outing?
Reply Nick, I'll see if I can put together a registration page for those wanting to Golf and also one for those that are interested in the FLW bus trip

Yes, yes, 50 years ago we were on the deep blue sea, didn't know where we were going, but had a good idea. Subic Bay was a blast. Don't know how some of us got back to the POPE. I will never for get that day. When we got to Vietnam and came off of the ship with the dog, Dave Harbach like to shit. HAHA! What a day was. The heat and the smell like to have knock us out. But what the hell, After 50 years and looking back, it was a lot fun at times. I have high respect for all of the MOUNTAIN MOVERS. So BROTHERS LETS ALL MEET IN BRANSON AND HAVE GREAT TIME ONE MORE TIME.

Hello to all the 589th Brothers. Roger, saw your note about getting short in 1968 which reminded me that 50 years ago the original bunch was about two days out to sea on the Pope.
How did all those years pass so quickly? Proud of the Association and that we are all able to reconnect. Thanks to all for their service. Welcome Home Brothers. DP |
