Well I finally got around to signing up for the 2017 Reunion and making my hotel reservations. Don't be lazy like me and keep putting it off! Get signed up now so we can see who is coming this year. Who knows that when you sign up someone else might decide to come too! See you all in September, it will be here before we know it!

Hey Daniel I got to A Co in May of 70 right before you were going back to the world and I remember Spanky cause I believe there were 6 of us went to the village outside of Cam Rahn Bay, missed our ride back to Phan Rang, spent the nite there and caught a ride the next morning with a Bco or Dco truck into the base. When we got to the guard shack the MP asked a buck Sgt if we all belonged to him and he said all but those 5 or 6 I picked up in the village. Needless to say he made us get off the truck and Spanky threatened to whip the Sgt's butt right then. The MP's locked us up in a conex-cell until someone from group came down and took us back there with them until they could get us a ride back to Phan Rang! I've often wondered whatever happened to him. Never got an address when he left to go home. Just a good memory with a bunch of great guys! There is more to this story I could share that happened that day and nite, but just trying to enjoy life in a war zone!

Google searched all the A Co members to see if any had passed away that we may not have known of. Sadly, I found four that I could verify were A Co men that had passed.
Walt Achillich-----A Co--12-13-16 Richard Forbus---A Co---5-11-15 Gene Lindsey-----A Co---9-9-15 Delbert Owens----A Co---3-3-13 Rest in Peace Brothers. You guys might want to do the same for your respective companies. I wish we had a better way to stay in contact with our members. |

Anyone out there who can still remember these nick names give me a shout out. Would love to here from you! |

I've modified the Fallen Brothers page. Let me know what you think of it.
Hey, while you're there feel free to sign up to be a HOF volunteer or if you can't do that then at least make a small donation to this very worthy cause. Any amount gets you listed as a contributor. |

I have just put a link to a story about Dennis Keefe on our "Links" page. It's titled "589th Santa & Carnegie Medal recipient." Dennis was in C Co and is from Lincroft, NJ.
Great story! Thank you, Dennis :toast: |

Hey Guys, we're getting ready to start organizing our 3rd annual, Honor Our Fallen program for Memorial Day weekend. I'm sure you know by now that the HOF program places flowers on the graves of all twenty-six of our 589th Brothers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. Our commitment to honor those Brothers would not be possible without our unselfish 589th volunteers who give of their time and effort each year to participate in this memorial service. We are very proud that we had enough 589th volunteers in 2015 and 2016 to represent us in remembering all twenty-six of our Fallen Brothers, giving real meaning to the phrase: "Never Forgotten".
We are hopeful to have enough volunteers for this year as well. If you have never participated in this program, you can’t imagine how much the families of these men appreciate it when their loved one is remembered in person by one of his fellow comrades. While we have met our goal of having at least one 589th volunteer represent us for the past two years, we would like to have even more of you contribute to this honor. Those of you that would like to volunteer to help place flowers can do that from the bottom of the Fallen Brothers page: http://589thengineers.com/pages/fallen-brothers.html. Those of you that are unable to attend one of the ceremonies, but would like to support the program, can make a donation from the bottom of the Donations/”Honor Our Fallen” page. http://589thengineers.com/pages/donate-fallen.html Any amount is appreciated and gets your name added as a contributor on the page. Your contribution amount is not revealed. Thanks in advance for your commitment! |
