Suggestion for the Board to consider! As the next Reunion will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the deployment of the Battalion to Viet Nam. I would like to see the Board make a 1 time exception to our By-laws and have shirts, sweatshirts and/or caps made to denote that fact in the design. The By-Laws state what is to be on them but in this instance I think an exception would be the thing to do. Even if it is done by pre-order only I would urge that it be done. Thank you!

I have asked Perry to take the last several posts down regarding the reunion survey. I asked him to do that because the Guest Book isn’t the place for ongoing debates over single issue questions. You will notice that when these debates come up, all other traffic on the Guest Book stops until the issue goes away. As an example, we have not had anyone post a comment for over a week…. the same has held true when these issues have come up in the past. So, let’s put these types of posts on the same level as posts on political opinion. Please, if you have an issue with the reunion survey please contact me directly. Several of you have done just that and it has made it much easier to resolve the question. Plus, I have enjoyed the opportunity to talk with you. Thanks.

Please notice that we have placed a link to a 2017 Reunion Survey on the Home Page, Latest News Page and here on the Guestbook Page. Click on any of these links to take the survey. This survey will help us decide where we might hold our 589th 2017 reunion celebrating the 50th Anniversary of it's deployment to Vietnam. Please participate whether you plan to attend or not.
Thank you, 589th Board. |

I think this is will work: Cu Lam Vu Thu, Thai Binh 20.505376 X 106.219840. I look it up on Google.
Reply Thanks for your efforts Brother, but those coordinates are incorrect for Cu Lam Nam. Those coordinates are for a Cu Lam in North Vietnam some 1,000 km from our base camp from Apr67-Aug68. See my reply to Paul in his post below.

I was wondering who in our membership would have the coordinates of Cu Lam Nam.I arrived in country the latter part of March 68
Reply Paul, the coordinates for Cu Lam Nam are 13.852406, 109.033919. I am about 98% sure, based on photos and a recent visit to that location last year, that our base camp coordinates are 13.865869, 109.013493
