Jim Swick, I was in C Co of the 16th Engineers. Went from there to Germany for 5 months and 22 days. Army said they needed bull dozer operators, I drove a 10T Tractor and trailer. There were 4 dozers and 12 other operators. Go Army!

To all of you going to Ft Hood next week I hope you have a great time and post pictures when you return. I was stationed at Ft Hood in 1969 after I came back from Nam. If you see anyone that looks like me don't tell them where I am--just joking, I think! Would of like to have joined you but we are going to the Viet Nam Wall in DC the following week. Anybody that would like to meet us there the timing is under Mini Reunions. Have fun!

Had a great dinner with Robert & Janice Thomas, Freddie & Karen Guth, Ralph & Caroline Downing and Herb Hines on Sunday at Mike Linnigs in Louisville! It was great to see everyone again and catch up on things. Robert looked pretty good (fighting cancer) and said we would have to do this again and we all agreed. Ralph and Freddie and I will see each other in May when we visit the wall in DC. If you are interested look under Mini Reunions and join us there. Hope you are all doing great and hope to see you again at the next reunion. As Ringo Starr says "Peace and Love"! Welcome Home!

We are up to about 30 members and 20 guests registered for the Ft Hood Mini Reunion. If you are planning to attend and haven't registered on the 589th website yet please do so. We need a headcount so the Ft Hood folks will know how many to plan for.
If you can't register on line send me a note or call and I'll help you out. Also need to be sure to register with the Hotel so you have someplace to lay your head!
I've had several conversations with the Engineers out there and they are excited to have us stop in and are planning a very nice day on Thursday.
I'll be sending out information to those registered in the next few days so watch your email.
